Part of the territory is located in the famous Valle d'Itria, the valley which is famous for the presence of a large concentration of trulli. The Valle d'Itria also includes parts of the territory of the towns of Martina Franca, Locorotondo, Ostuni, Cisternino and Ceglie Messapica. The area has numerous karst cavities with beautiful caves, such as the caves of Montevicoli.
Since the 1990s, the Messapian city has been nicknamed "city of art and of gastronomy" because of the many testimonies of its millenary history and for the typical gastronomy, appreciated and recognized throughout Italy, so much so that it is identified as " capital of Apulian gastronomy". Ceglie Messapica is one of the most important places in Italy for gastronomic tourism. Typical gastronomic productions are ancient culinary traditions and represent the relationship between nature and culture; that relationship found in few realities and which represents the touristic success of the city. Ceglie Messapica confirms its gastronomic vocation and is home to the "Med Cooking School" - International School of Gastronomy. The city is proposed and consolidated as a tourist model for those seeking contact with nature, with the typical Apulian specialties, with art and culture.
